Dan Carter teams up with CanTeen

Bandanna Week kicks off on a high note this Monday 16th October thanks to Dan Carter who is pleased to announce he is teaming up with CanTeen as an ambassador.

CanTeen is a national peer support network for young people age 13-24 yrs living with cancer. Carter has chosen to support the cause after spending time with members from the Canterbury division. “I really want to focus my time on making a difference with one charity. After spending time with CanTeen members, I’m inspired and encouraged by them and by what CanTeen does to support young people living with cancer,” says Carter.

Carter’s first goal is to lend his support to CanTeen during Bandanna Week where they aim to raise $1 Million. “Bandanna Week is CanTeen’s main fundraising activity and everyone can make a difference just by buying a Bandanna,” says Carter.

“We are really excited about Dan Carter coming on board to help us raise awareness of what CanTeen does for young people living with cancer. With Dan’s support we are hoping to reach many more young New Zealanders who have been affected by cancer and encourage them to join CanTeen. Our aim is to make our members aware they are not alone in their cancer journey. CanTeen runs educational and recreational activities and provides a peer support network where members can meet, talk and share their experiences in a fun and positive environment,” says Kylie Gallagher, Marketing Manager CanTeen.

Bandanna Week starts next week (16th – 22nd October) and you can show your support your way by buying a bandanna.

The bandanna became a symbol for CanTeen because many young people choose to wear them after losing their hair as a side effect to cancer treatments.

This year CanTeen has added a number of new designs and colours to the range. At only $4 they are a fashion steal and you are supporting a worthy cause – bonus! Bandannas can be worn in a variety of ways, not just on your head! You can tie them round your wrist and neck, or use them as a belt on your jeans. Alternatively you can text CANTEEN to 883 to make a $3 donation.
