Life Flight Street Appeal raises over $95,000
Over $95,000 was donated on the streets of Wellington, Kapiti, Hutt Valley, Wairarapa and Marlborough during Life Flight’s street appeal held earlier this month on September 7th and 8th. This year’s result represents an increase of over $4,000 against last year’s street appeal.
“The money raised from the street appeal goes towards over $2million we need from the community each year to keep our Wellington-based Westpac Rescue Helicopter and Life Flight NZ air ambulance service in the air” Anna Ralph, Marketing and Fundraising Manager says.
“We are delighted with the results: it’s fantastic to see such strong support for what we do, and what makes it especially rewarding is meeting people on the streets who have been helped by Life Flight themselves”.
“The street appeal’s success simply wouldn’t be possible without the 400+ volunteers and businesses who generously donate their time, along with some very dedicated area coordinators, and of course our own staff. This year it was also wonderful to see even more of our corporate sponsors getting involved on the streets”.
2006 is the 30th anniversary since Peter Button started the region’s rescue helicopter service. Life Flight is a busy operation: in the previous 12 months, Life Flight has undertaken 1,545 missions involving 1,481 patients and 1,074 relatives/support people
“If anyone missed the Life Flight street appeal, it’s not too late to make a donation, simply go to www.lifeflight.org.nz for secure credit card donations.” added Anna Ralph.
