Auckland Hospitals close due to power outage

Auckland District Health Board and Counties Manukau District health Board
Auckland city and Middlemore Hospitals are closed due to the power outage.
All non urgent surgery has been cancelled, with only the emergency and maternity departments still operating.
Anyone arriving at the emergency department for non urgent surgery will be turned away.
The hospitals are running on emergency power and all patients are safe and being well cared for.
The hospitals are planning on being closed for the whole day.
The hospitals have asked that people refrain from calling patients on cellphones because of network overloads and visiting is restricted for emergency situations only.
North Shore and Waitakere Hospitals have not been affected by the power outage.
