Lion Nathan Friday Freeze up!

Lion Nathan Friday Freeze up!

Heart Children Awareness Week 20th 26th May

On Friday 26th May at 3pm, 40 Lion Nathan employees will dress down, get wet and get freezing for charity as they plunge into an ice cold spa pool, at the Lion Breweries Health and Leisure Centre, Gate 2, Khyber Pass Road, Newmarket as part of the Heartstopper Challenge, raising funds for Heart Children Awareness Week.

Aiming to raise funds as well as awareness for the cause, Lion Nathans Workplace Giving initiative Lion Pride, has committed to matching dollar for dollar all funds raised from the big freeze as well as additional sponsorships from inside the company.

Garth Halliday, Heart Children GM will be attending and speaking on the day.

Every year in New Zealand the parents of 600 newborn babies learn that their child has a heart defect. Often these children are cooled down in ice prior to their heart operations or are blue when born due to complications relating to their heart conditions.

The money raised during the awareness week will provide essential services for heart children and their families by helping to develop a national network of family support workers.

Donations to Heart Children New Zealand can be made at any branch of the Bank of New Zealand, by texting HEART to 469 (to make a $3 donation), phoning 0900 4 Heart (to donate $20) or donating online at www.heartchildren.org.nz.
