Get Off The Couch!
The National Council of Women of New Zealand (NCWNZ) Board on meeting with Sharon Cole, the Deputy Chief Commissioner of the Families Commission was disturbed to be told that the Families Commission had not taken a stance on PlunketLine.
"We note that in the Families Commission's publicity material their mandate is to advocate for families to ensure that their voice is heard and their needs are considered at all levels," said Christine Low, National President. "We further note that the Commission states they engage in public debate - the Council challenges the Commission to do so on this issue."
"NCWNZ will be communicating further with the Commission and we will be encouraging our members to get on the couch - the online panel for feedback on family issues," said Low.
NCWNZ has encouraged its members to sign the petition calling for the reinstatement of the specific long-term funding for PlunketLine.
"NCWNZ is an independent voice representing a
broad cross-section of women throughout New Zealand. We
hope that our action influences a positive outcome -
certainty for PlunketLine," concluded
Low.
