Election pamphlets give
way to
charity appeal envelopes
Election pamphlets have given way to appeal envelopes as charities get their annual appeals underway.
This week 2,000 posties have delivered Plunket appeal envelopes to one and a quarter million letterboxes throughout the country. From Monday householders can expect one of 21,000 volunteers to knock on their door and collect their envelope and donation, during the 17 – 24 October appeal period.
But for those not at home when the collector calls, envelopes can be posted to Plunket or put in collection buckets at local retailers. Foodtown and Woolworths supermarkets will also take donations at the check-out.
New technologies have made it easier to give. Instant $20 donations can be made by calling 0900 55520. By txting “plunket” to 5500 an instant $3 donation can be made. Xtra has a link to Plunket’s online donation page, which can also be accessed through www.plunket.org.nz
All money collected locally is used by Plunket in that community to ensure children have a healthy and safe start in life through the provision of: antenatal programmes; Family Centres; mobile clinics; car seat rental schemes; parent education and support groups; playgroups; toy libraries; coffee groups; and Tots and Toddlers high school education programmes.
