Over $91,000 raised during Life Flight appeal
Over $91,000 was raised during Life Flight's annual street appeal earlier this month.
The money raised will be used to support the life saving work of the Wellington based Westpac Rescue Helicopter and the Life Flight NZ air ambulance.
"We are very pleased with the result and would like to thank everyone who gave their time or money" says Life Flight Marketing Manager Bettina Burley. "Raising this much money would not be possible without the generosity of the people in our region, the small army of volunteers that donate their time, the network of Westpac staff and of course our own dedicated Life Flight staff".
"Life Flight needs to raise over $2 million dollars a year to keep our aircraft flying , so raising such a large amount of money over two days is very important to us" says Bettina.
The annual street appeal was held over two days. On Thursday September 8th the collection was done in Hutt City, Upper Hutt , Wainuiomata, Petone and the Wairarapa. On Friday September 9th the collection was done in Wellington, Porirua, the Kapiti Coast and Marlborough.
Over 500 volunteers donate their time to help with our collection. Volunteer co-ordinators in Kapiti, Marlborough and the Wairarapa give significant time and energy to help us organise the collection in their region.
NB: Available regional breakdown of money collected: Wairarapa $3,567 - Kapiti $10,424 - Marlborough $7186.
