DHB showcases its health and safety practices during inaugural Safety NZ Week
Co-ordinated by ACC, the inaugural Safety NZ Week runs from 7 – 13 August with Hawke’s Bay District Health Board doing its bit supporting the event.
Says chief executive Chris Clarke “The public health system has often been seen as providing ‘ambulance at the bottom of the cliff” services, yet in reality we provide a host of health promotion, prevention and protection services to the public and our own staff.’
Throughout the week the DHB will be showcasing its health and safety in the workplace initiatives, running colouring competitions for children admitted to or visiting Hawke’s Bay Hospital Soldiers’ Memorial and providing information leaflets to patients and visitors.
Says Mr Clarke “Our aim throughout the week is to inform and educate, in a fun way, on some of the ways people can keep themselves safe.
“Our bright ideas department was asked to design something that would encapsulate health protection – they came up with a bubble wrap vest to wear at our “new employee orientation day” on Monday . It promises to be an entertaining way of introducing our newest employees to their CEO while at the same time introducing our health and safety in the workplace programmes.”
