Tell us what you think about plans for your health

28 July 2005

Tell us what you think about our plan for your health

Together, we can achieve much more than we could separately - kia hoe tahi, kia kotahi te hoe.

That's the key theme of the Bay of Plenty District Health Board draft District Strategic Plan consultation.

Bay of Plenty District Health Board Chairperson, Mary Hackett, says the Board is currently seeking feedback on the draft District Strategic Plan, and encourages everyone to tell the Board what they think about the key health priorities outlined in the ten-year document.

Mrs Hackett says the vision of the District Health Board remains the same - to achieve healthy thriving communities.

"While our vision remains the same, the Board needs the assistance of the community to review how we are going to get there."

"The District Health Board is an advocate for health and healthy lifestyles, and your response is necessary if we are to advocate for the health initiatives that you believe are important," says Mrs Hackett.

The Bay of Plenty District Health Board (BOPDHB) has developed its District Strategic Plan (DSP) having regard to Government's health priorities and the Board's own analysis of the health of the people of this region.

The DSP is a ten-year plan focusing on the health of the people of the Bay of Plenty. It is a direction that signals to health providers in the community what they need to do, and to individuals what they need to do to achieve an improved health status.

A key element of the DSP is community engagement and feedback before the final plan is determined and signed off by the BOPDHB and Government.

* attending one of the public meetings or hui.
