Rescue Helicopter Transports Man from Kapiti Crash
The Wellington based Westpac Rescue Helicopter has just returned from transporting a seriously injured person from a crash on the Kapiti Coast.
The helicopter, with a Wellington Free Ambulance paramedic on board was sent to the scene of the crash at 10:50am.
The crash occurred on State Highway 1, by the railway station, at Paekakariki.
We believe that it was a head on crash between two cars traveling in opposite directions.
The Westpac Rescue Helicopter transported an unidentified man believed to be in his mid twenties suffering from a very serious head injury.
Wellington Free Ambulance, police and fire were all at the scene. An off duty WFA paramedic was one of the first people to reach the scene of the accident and stabilised the patient until help arrived.
The man arrived at Wellington Hospital Emergency Department at 11:20 am and is believed to be in a critical condition.
