Winton School 100% Return with Consent Forms

A Winton school has set the benchmark for other schools in the region, as the first school to return 100% of their Meningococcal B immunisation consent forms.

Consent forms for the immunisation programme were distributed to schools this week and parents/whanau are being urged to return them back to schools as soon as possible, whether they wish to consent to the series of three MeNZB™ vaccinations, or not.

Hillside Primary School sent consent forms home with their 43 pupils on Monday 2 May. The school had collected back and delivered all of the completed forms to the Meningococcal B project office on Wednesday 4 May.

Project Manager Judi Dennis said it was fantastic to see the school had put in such an effort to ensure every consent form was returned.

“Hillside Primary School students and staff should be very proud that they have achieved a 100% return of consent forms,” Mrs Dennis said.

“This is a very important project to protect the health of our young people and the return of consent forms is a major part of this. I am thrilled Hillside Primary School has done such a fantastic job and hope other schools will do the same.” she said.

Approximately 18,500 students will be vaccinated in the region as part of the school-based campaign, which begins on 30 May 2005.

All school students should now have received their consent forms and parents are reminded to read them thoroughly, sign and return them back to school immediately.

Babies, preschoolers and out of school youth aged under 20 years will be vaccinated at their doctors through a campaign due to start on 7 June 2005.
