Countdown On Until 10 December When Indoor Workplaces, Bars & Clubs Become Smokefree
From Friday 10 December, smokers will be asked to ‘take the smoke outside’ when they are at any indoor workplaces or licensed premises – that includes bars, restaurants, clubs and casinos.
Hawke’s Bay District Health Board’s Auahi Kore Smokefree promoter, Wepiha Gemmell, says the DHB will be providing support to the hospitality industry and other workplaces as they work towards introducing the new measures when the amendments to the Smokefree Environments Act come in to force on 10 December.
Wepiha said anyone wanting more information on the new legislation should check out the following websites: www.smokefreelaw.co.nz or contact Wepiha at the District Health Board’s public health unit wepiha.gemmell@hawkesbaydhb.govt.nz or phone (06) 834 1815
