2021/Labour Health Board Ads Mislead Over Asset Sales
“Health Cuts Hurt intends lodging a complaint over misinformation in 2021/Labour election propaganda and advertisements for the Canterbury Health Board elections,” Heather Carter of Health Cuts Hurt said today. “Our group is demanding the withdrawal of the material and an apology to Cantabrians.”
“The 2021/Labour material delivered to letter boxes states ‘you can trust us to keep public control of our assets’,” said Heather Carter. “Yet it was the Labour/2021 group that moved and seconded (Alison Wilkie and David Morrell) the decision to sell off Queen Mary Hospital land in 2004 to cover deficits.”
“Garry Moore says in a glossy pamphlet and the Press advertisements that ‘You can judge me, and the 2021 team on our record’,” said Heather Carter. “Yet the material on the Health Board does not mention the record of the 2021/Labour group on asset sales in health. It was the 2021/Labour group that has been promoting the asset sales at Queen Mary and Hillmorton Hospitals despite fierce resistance from Cantabrians.”
“The pamphlet in health is full of double speak with the phrase ‘Adopting an innovative approach to day surgery to reduce waiting lists’ being code for cutting 10,000 people off those lists!” said Heather Carter. “Health Cuts Hurt challenges 2021/Labour to tell the truth to the people of Canterbury before they vote “

Re 2021/LABOUR HEALTH BOARD ADS OVER ASSET SALES
Health Cuts Hurt intends lodging a complaint over misinformation in 2021/Labour election material and advertisements for the Canterbury Health Board elections. The 2021/Labour material delivered to letter boxes states ‘you can trust us to keep public control of our assets.’ Yet it was the Labour/2021 group that moved and seconded (Alison Wilkie and David Morrell) the decision to sell off Queen Mary Hospital land in 2004 to cover deficits.
You say in a glossy pamphlet and the Press advertisements that ‘You can judge me, and the 2021 team on our record’. Yet the 2021/Labour material on the Health Board does not mention the record of the 2021/Labour group on asset sales in health. It was the 2021/Labour group that has been promoting the asset sales at Queen Mary and Hillmorton Hospitals despite fierce resistance from Cantabrians. I ask you to publicly withdraw the material and apologise to the people of Canterbury.
