Calling For Volunteer Collectors To Help In The Fight Against Breast Cancer

Volunteer Collectors are urgently needed between 11.00am & 1.30pm on Saturday 4th September to help raise money for breast cancer awareness at the 'Great Race' Gallagher Boathouse 8s.

The Great Race is an annual rowing race between Cambridge University (UK) and Waikato University on the Waikato River. The New Zealand Breast Cancer Foundation is the official charity of the day and is seeking volunteers to help sell pink ribbons and collect donations at the SKYCITY Hamilton 'Great Race Great Concert' riverside event in Hamilton City.

The New Zealand Breast Cancer Foundation is a charitable trust that aims to reduce the number of New Zealanders who die from breast cancer and to improve outcomes and quality of life for those affected by breast cancer. Funds raised from the Great Race" will go towards helping the Foundation provide; free community education, seminars, research, medical grants and scholarships, a breast cancer patient register as well as advocacy. Over 2,300 women are diagnosed with breast cancer in New Zealand each year. •

One man in ten will have a mother, wife, sister or daughter die of breast cancer in New Zealand. You can help make a difference by simply lending us a few hours of your time!

In support of The New Zealand Breast Cancer Foundation being the official recipient charity of the Gallagher Boathouse 8s, SKYCITY Hamilton will be lit pink every night from 30 August - 4 September and its staff will wear pink ribbons..

As the event's Entertainment Sponsor for the second consecutive year, SKYCITY Hamilton is providing a free concert before the Great Race and is also set to be the 'Post Race Party venue" with the chance to meet rowers from both teams in the Number Eight Bar from 7.30pm, Happy Hour (7.30pm - 8.30pm), a 'Stay and Play' prize draw and free entertainment from the "Tall Poppies" from 9.30am.
