Arrest Warrant Out For CHRISTCHURCH MP
Police have an arrest warrant out for Clayton Cosgrove, on a charge of being the Member of Parliament for Waimakariri.
Also being sought by police on a charge of being a 100 percent fireman is Rangiora business personality and volunteer
firefighter, Ross Ditmer.
Police say these are very serious crimes and it is imperative that they find Mr Cosgrove and Mr Ditmer soon before they
commit too many more achievements for the Waimakariri region.
Police have it on good authority that Mr Cosgrove will be in Rangiora next Monday morning conducting his weekly
constituent clinic in his Mobile Office, and that Mr Ditmer is also scheduled for an appointment at this clinic. It is
hoped that the arrests can be made at this time. A hefty bail will then be set for both men’s release.
Media are invited to witness the “arrest” of Mr Cosgrove and Mr Ditmer on Monday 23 February 2004 at 10:00am. Police
will capture and handcuff the men at Clayton Cosgrove’s Mobile Office (Red bus parked opposite Council Chambers, High
St, Rangiora) and take them to the police station where the bail will be set.
Any “bail” money raised for Mr Cosgrove and Mr Ditmer’s release is to be donated to the Cancer Society ahead of the
Relay for Life event on Saturday 28 – Sunday 29 February.
The Cancer Society’s Relay for Life is a community event and teams from far and wide will gather at the Rangiora
Showgrounds for 24 hours of fun, entertainment and camaraderie. Relay for Life involves teams walking around a track
whilst others camp in the middle. The event starts at 2pm with cancer survivors leading the first lap, and as it gets
dark a special candlelight ceremony is held.
Mr Cosgrove, who will be participating as part of the Cancer Society team, says he has no doubt that the people of North
Canterbury and Christchurch will get right behind the event and the worthy cause.
“There are very few people who have not been touched in some way by cancer. I know that our community will do itself
proud in supporting the Relay for Life and helping the Cancer Society to continue the wonderful work it does to help
people living with cancer their families and friends.”
