New Southland Base Hospital on TV

Southlanders will be able to get a sneak preview of the inside of the new Southland Hospital on Wednesday 28 January 2004 by watching “Health Talk” on Southland Television.

“Health Talk”, Southland District Health Board’s monthly television talk-back programme, is presenting footage of the interior of the new hospital with a panel discussing the key features of the new design.

Lexie O’Shea, Chief Operating Officer, says the programme is an opportunity to introduce the public to the new hospital and explain the enhancements of the new design and how these will benefit patients, visitors and staff.

“We are now at a stage in the construction process where the interior is really taking shape and people can get a feel for the space the new hospital design offers” she says.

This Wednesday’s programme will focus on the main entrance to the new hospital, including the Emergency Department, X-Ray and Outpatients areas, as well as discussion on visiting hours, car parking and signage for the new facility. Two further programmes are planned over the next six months to present footage on other areas of the new hospital, including the Rehabilitation Services, Women’s Health and Child Health departments and the Operating Theatres

Lexie O’Shea, together with Hospital Redevelopment Transition Manager Helen McKenzie and Director or Nursing Leanne Samuel, will front the panel on the programme and provide commentary to the footage.

Viewers are able to call in during the live programme with questions and comments. ‘Health Talk’ screens on Southland Television at 8.00pm, Wednesday 28 January 2004 and is available nationally on Channel 90, Sky Digital.
