Useful Website Re: Smokefree Legislation

Media Advisory

15 December 2003

From: Graeme Gillespie, Ministry of Health, Public Health Programmes Manager

useful website re smoking legislation

This is to advise you of a Ministry of Health website dedicated to the Smoke-free Environments Amendment Act 2003, which can be found at www.ndp.govt.nz/smokefreelaw.html.

We expect there will be ongoing interest in the issue as the incremental changes to the new law take effect and hope you find this resource a useful first port of call for queries regarding the legislation.

The site has information backgrounding the new Act and provides answers to frequently asked questions, including who is affected by the new legislation; who isn't; how people and businesses are affected; when the changes come into effect; and enforcement issues.
