Family Help Trust Announces Major Sponsorship

A significant sponsorship arrangement between Christchurch based support agency, The Family Help Trust and The Radio Network, has been confirmed today.

Trust director, Libby Robins, will announce the sponsorship at a fundraising function at the Christchurch Casino at midday.

"The Radio Network is a highly respected media organisation with well established brands including NewstalkZB and Classic Hits, and we are thrilled they have offered to sponsor us," says Ms. Robins.

South Island General Manager of TRN, Ross McRobie says he is pleased to be supporting such a worthwhile organisation.

"At risk children in Canterbury and their families rely on The Family Help Trust and the Radio Network is confident this sponsorship will assist the Trust to continue carrying out it's effective work," he says. "The people of Canterbury are great supporters of our radio stations, and it is important that when we can, we give something back to our community."

Details of the sponsorship deal include substantial 'free' on air advertising 'spots' which will be in turn will be sponsored (details of that sponsor have yet to be confirmed), with proceeds from that sponsor going directly to The Family Help Trust.

Libby Robins says this will enable the Trust to promote fundraising events without incurring advertising costs, and will also further raise the profile of the Family Help Trust.

"We are achieving excellent results with 'at risk' children and their families - providing families with information and skills empowering them to make their own decisions for the betterment of their children and themselves. We are constantly fundraising to enable us to do this, and advertising fundraising events is just not something we can include in our budgets," she says. "This is a fantastic opportunity and a further endorsement of our achievements."

A recent independent evaluation showed that families working with the Trust are providing safer environments for their children after a short time with the case workers, and after 12 months those families are still doing exceptionally well.

The Family Help Trust is unique in that it provides long term (up to five years - or until a child starts school), home based, early intervention programmes for families with drugs, alcohol, violence and/or criminal histories.

Libby Robins will be speaking at the 'World Champion Netballers Luncheon' at the Grand Café in the Christchurch Casino, today from midday. Guests of honour are Vilimainu Davu and Belinda Colling.
