New CEO for CCS

Relationship Services chief executive Viv Maidaborn has been appointed CEO of CCS, New Zealand’s leading provider of support and services for people with disabilities.

Wellington-based Maidaborn has been head of Relationship Services for the past four years. She will take up her new position in February. Current CCS boss, Rob Williams, has resigned to accept a senior role within the South Australian health sector.

Maidaborn, who has a degree in Social Work, brings a wealth of disability sector experience to CCS.

Other previous roles have included General Manager Disability Support and Community Health Services at Waitemata Health, and Executive of the Wilson Home Trust in Takapuna.

She said the N Z Disability Strategy signals real progress in NZs New Zealand’s treatment of people with disabilities. The implementation of it, and the resources available to achieve its goals, remain critical challenges for everyone concerned about the health and wellbeing of people with disabilities and their families.

“There are fundamental challenges for people with a disability entering each new life stage that range from physical access and mobility, to employment, policy gaps and human rights.
“ItIt is these issues that CCS will continue to actively address”, Maidaborn said. CCS has a staff of 500 and a network of 16 branches located across the country. The organisation serves over 5000 children and adults with disabilities and also administers the country’s Mobility Parking scheme, which has over 75,000 active users.

In addition to the range of practical services it provides disabled people, CCS is a leading advocate on disability issues, particularly as they relate to access and awareness.
