Sue Mayo To World Aquatic Baby Conference

Hamilton swim school operator, Sue Mayo has been asked to speak at the bi-annual World Aquatic Baby Conference this month.

The 7th WABC Conference will be held in Hawaii from 18th – 20th October 2003.

International swim teachers and operators from Swim Schools around the United States, Europe, Australasian and Pacific.

“The infant aquatics and pre school aquatic programmers in New Zealand are booming. Parents are realizing the importance of educating the pre school age group in aquatics before they go to school.” Sue Mayo said.

“New Zealand has a huge expanse of water, lakes, rivers and beaches. Swimming is a part of our lifestyle.”

Her presentation is focusing on the 3 year old age group. “We are able to introduce children to basic freestyle and backstroke skills at this age. However it doesn’t mean we are creating Olympians. These children need to be relaxed in the water so if they do happen to suddenly find themselves in water the will think first! Water can be fun!”

Sue Mayo is also Chairman of the Swim Teacher’s Committee of the National Swim Coaches and Teachers Association.
