International Children's Art Exhibition To Open At NZ Childcare Association 40th Jubilee Conference, Wellington
The Boorai Children ' s International Art Exhibition will open at 6.30 pm on 10 July 2003, at the James Cook Grand
Chancellor Hotel, Wellington. The exhibition aims to present the ' voice of the child ' to wide audiences and to provide
a forum for educators and families to acknowledge and engage with the ideas, feelings and life experiences of young
children.
This initiative is a project between Te Tari Puna Ora o Aotearoa/NZ Childcare Association and the Boorai Children ' s
Art Gallery, located at Melbourne University Early Learning Centre.
The theme of the inaugural exhibition is CARE - Children Appreciating and Respecting the Environment. The CARE project
has been developed to communicate young children's attitudes of care, curiosity and responsibility for the environment
through their art and narrative. Art work produced by young New Zealand children in a local early childhood education
centre will join that of children from Australia, China, USA and Singapore.
Rose Cole, Chief Executive, is delighted that the Childcare Association is able to host such a significant event. " We
have been working towards the exhibition for the past year, as one of the highlights of our jubilee celebrations " .
The exhibition will remain on display throughout the Association ' s conference, and then will move to Capital E at the
end of July.
