Comvita Does Not Use Pan Products But Still Takes
Precautionary Steps
Reacting to news that Australian company Pan Pharmaceuticals has breached safety standards, the award-winning natural health products market leader Comvita New Zealand Limited has advised its retail customers that it does not source product from Pan.
In a letter to customers, CEO Graeme Boyd said Comvita changed its manufacturer of Royal Jelly capsules from Pan to a new supplier last October.
"There should be very few of these particular capsules still available on shop shelves," he says. However, as a precautionary step Comvita is asking all wholesale and retail customers to return some older batches of Royal Jelly if they are still on shelves.
This is not a move that has been requested by New Zealand authorities, but Boyd says it is the right thing to do as far as the company's customers are concerned.
The product in question is Royal Jelly capsules and supply was limited to three pack sizes - Royal Jelly 365 capsules, Royal Jelly 180 capsules and Royal Jelly 30's.
In a letter to Comvita's customers, Boyd has itemised the batch numbers that apply to the capsules. He also points out that no other Comvita products have been manufactured by Pan.
Boyd stresses the decision to recall the product is not a requirement and in all likelihood is an unnecessary precaution. He says Comvita is going out of its way to put safety first.
If any of the
affected product is still in circulation, Comvita will
replace stock or credit customers who return stock.
Customers are invited to contact their territory manager for
collection or phone Comvita's customer services on free
phone 0800-50-49-59 to arrange a credit.
