Shell pumping for Barnardos
Shell New Zealand is pumping cash into Barnardos annual appeal, which starts today, to make sure that it is the most successful ever.
Lloyd Taylor, Chairman of Shell New Zealand, says that Shell won't stand by while child abuse gets swept under the carpet.
"We refuse to accept that we are powerless to do anything about child abuse. Shell appeal's to all New Zealanders to believe they can do something too, by supporting the people who can make a difference."
Barnardos' annual appeal runs between 4th-10th March and Shell will be the main supporter of the appeal for the sixth year running.
"Shell is committed not only to help Barnardos combat child abuse throughout New Zealand, but also to help raise awareness that the problem exists, and make people do something about it.
"By supporting Barnardos I know that Shell is helping to save children from the misery of abuse, and I implore the public to give generously," Dr Taylor said.
"The bond Shell has created with Barnardos is one we are proud of, as our continued support helps them to deliver their life-changing services to our country's children and fight for the right a child has to a happy and safe life, free from abuse and neglect."
The television advert premiered on TV One yesterday, and will be aired daily in prime-time slots throughout appeal week.
