Public Swimming Pool Safety Encouraged
With summer in full swing, many New Zealanders are pool bound for fun, fitness and leisure.
Water Safety New Zealand (WSNZ) and the New Zealand Recreation Association (NZRA) are encouraging pool users to be selective in their choice of swimming pools and seek out ACC PoolSafe pools.
The ACC PoolSafe Quality Management Scheme has been in place now for 1 year and 86 pools have been assessed or are going through the assessment process.
ACC PoolSafe pools have demonstrated they are up to the industry requirements for:
• Pool supervision (including trained and qualified life guards),
• Dealing with emergencies,
• Having good pool water quality,
• The supervision of young children (other than lifeguard supervision),
• Compliance with Heath and Safety standards
By swimming at an ACC PoolSafe pool you can be assured that the systems and procedures are in place for an enjoyable and safe experience.
Attached is a list of pools who have been assessed as being ACC PoolSafe, or are going through the ACC PoolSafe assessment process.
