Hospice Service in the Marlborough District
Salvation Army and Nelson Marlborough District Health Board to jointly develop Hospice Service in the Marlborough District
The Salvation Army (Territorial Finance Council) has today confirmed to the Nelson Marlborough District Health Board, its intention to proceed with the development of the Palliative Care Service in the Marlborough District.
In order for the service to commence a number of key steps will be necessary. These include: The confirmation of the relationship between the Marlborough Hospice Trust and The Salvation Army with the acceptance and signing of a Memorandum of Understanding; The construction and licensing of the Hospice facility; The Ministry of Health Certification of The Salvation Army’s service documentation; The signing of a contract for the delivery of services and funding between The Salvation Army and the Nelson Marlborough District Health Board.
At present the
contract offered by the Nelson Marlborough District Health
Board offers approximately 50% of the funding required for
the in-bed service and for the co-ordination of community
based services. The viability of the service will be
dependent upon the continuing goodwill and support of the
community and other funding
agencies.
