New Sunshine Coach To Fairhaven School

Variety And Ford Present New Sunshine Coach To Fairhaven School.

Variety - The Children's Charity and Ford New Zealand presented a Sunshine Coach to representatives from Fairhaven School in Hastings following the Fitzy's Ford Classic Golf Day at Huapai Golf Course yesterday.

The Ford Econovan, the 71st Sunshine Coach in New Zealand, was presented to Associate Principal Shelley Clements by All Black legend Sean Fitzpatrick and Ford Business Centre Manager, Mike de Veer.

"Ford New Zealand has a long and proud association with Variety - The Children's Charity, and Fitzy's Ford Classic Golf Day is one more way that we can show our support," said Mr. de Veer.

"All proceeds from Fitzy's Ford Classic Golf Day help buy a new Sunshine Coach for an organisation, which will ultimately be of huge benefit to many children. It is a real thrill to be involved with an event that provides such tangible benefits."

The Sunshine Coach will enable Fairhaven School to transport its special needs students to and from school and to activities that are part of the student’s programmes.

“There is limited access to public transport in our area, and few of our students are able to use what is available,” says Shelley Clements.

“The Sunshine Coach will make it much easier for our students to be out in the community and to participate in activities away from the classroom.”

Some of the celebrities who gave their time and joined Sean Fitzpatrick in the 2002 tournament included Grant Fox, Gary Whetton, Olo Brown, Dipak Patel, Simon Dallow, Hamish McKay and Ewen Gilmour.

Ford has been a long time supporter of Variety – The Children's Charity, ever since its inception in New Zealand. The two organisations have been helping New Zealand help New Zealand’s kids since 1989.
