Kenyan Kids Music To Kiwi’s Ears

24 April, 2002

Have you seen, or should we say heard, the latest CCF NZ ad on telly? Kiwis throughout the country have been moved by the enchanting sound of the Kenyan kids singing, which features in the ad.

CCF NZ has been surprised by the reaction from Kiwis who have asked for copies of the music. In response CCF NZ has copied the singing onto CD and made it available to the public to cope with the demand.

The singing was recorded at Emali Primary School in Kenya. Emali is a new project that CCF NZ has established, where the entire community of 30,000 people will be supported, solely by Kiwis.

Singing is an important part of Kenyan culture and, although many of the children are shy when asked to speak, they always sing with pride and enthusiasm – they just love it!

CCF NZ also managed to save a considerable amount of money in production costs by having a staff member recorded the music and shot the footage for the ad while working in Emali.

The music has also been used on CCF NZ’s funky new multimedia website, www.ccf.org.nz. The new site, which was developed by Vivace Web Design Ltd, really captures the warmth and spirit of the wonderful community of Emali.

You can get a copy of the music on CD for a donation of $10, which will be used to develop community initiatives in Emali. Please call toll free 0800 808 822 or email Blair at blair@ccf.org.nz.
