11 November 1999 Immediate Release
Meeting between Ministry Officials and He Haurahi Tamariki Postponed
A meeting planned for today with the Porirua school for teen parents, He Huarahi Tamariki, has been postponed at the school's request because some of the school's key people were not available, the Ministry of Education said tonight.
The meeting will now take place next week.
Education Ministry Senior Manager Norman LaRocque said that Ministry officials were working with He Huarahi Tamariki to develop options to ensure the ongoing viability of the school.
"This includes making sure that the children of the teen parents have the necessary access to high quality childcare," said Mr LaRocque.
"The Minister of Education has made it very clear this week that the Government is committed to the future of He Huarahi Tamariki, and we are confident that creative solutions to the issues will be found.
"A press statement will be issued following next week's meeting."
