“It is very refreshing to hear that the Minister is aware of what ITOs have been doing as adult literacy has been an
issue for ITOs for many years,” Mr Williams said.
“ITOs provide a great opportunity for the Government to quickly and efficiently improve adult literacy rates – we
already do it, and are keen contribute to the development of a strategy,” he said.
“We will be writing to the Minister indicating our interest and support for this initiative and we are eager to work
with other organisations to improve adult literacy levels,” Mr Williams said.
“ITOs work at the interface of education and industry, ensuring that businesses have skilled employees – literacy is a
fundamental building block for industry-based training,” Mr Williams said.
