Young Nat’s Praise Student Association

The University of Canterbury Student's Association (USCA) deserves praise for its decision to withdraw from the New Zealand's Student's Association (NZUSA) says University of Canterbury Young Nationals Chair Richard Swan.
"For too long the NZUSA has not been accountable to students who are forced to fund this organisation. The UCSA has finally sent a message to it saying return to its main purpose of representing university students otherwise face fragmentation and dissolution"
"With leadership whose conduct has seen it ruin any chance of a productive working relationship with the Government, being more focused and dedicated to peripheral issues such as Anti-APEC protests rather then working for university students, New Zealand university students as a whole are the worse off because of this organisation's poor performance" commented Richard Swan.
Richard Swan added, "It is a pity that millions of dollars have poured into the NZUSA before an association like the UCSA had the courage to stand up and say enough. Hopefully their withdrawal will provide the impetus for the desperate reform that is needed at the NZUSA."
