AMINZ and AUT Law School welcome a young arbitration group
WELLINGTON — The Arbitrators’ and Mediators’ Institute of New Zealand, (AMINZ) and AUT Law School have joined forces to
provide a young arbitration group in New Zealand.
Arbitration is growing globally and support to nurture young practitioners is key to career development in this area.
AUT Law School Dean, Prof. Charles Rickett said, “We are delighted to help young practitioners craft their careers.
Working with AMINZ, we believe we can ensure better support for those seeking a career in arbitration.”
The AMINZ-AUT Arbitration Young Practitioner Group will launch in Wellington in tandem with next month’s AMINZ national
conference in Wellington from August 31 to September 1. A seminar and networking event on junioring in arbitration will
see barristers Anna Kirk and Jack Wass speaking on tribunal secretaries and how to perform this role.
AUT and AMINZ are now offering scholarships for young practitioners to attend the launch event and the 2018 AMINZ
Conference.
Applications for the scholarships are invited from anyone who has an interest in arbitration and is either in tertiary
study or no more than 10 years post-graduation. Applicants will need to advise why their attendance will assist their
career development. Apply to: Office.Assistant@aminz.org.nz by 10 August 2018.
