NZ Sign Language Teachers Association welcome assistance from the NZSL Board.
The New Zealand Sign Language Teachers Association (NZSLTA) welcomes funding from the New Zealand Sign Language (NZSL) Board to enable it to become a stronger organisation for NZSL tutors throughout New Zealand.
The number of people wanting to learn New Zealand Sign Language has increased in recent years which means it is important for NZSLTA to be effective. NZSLTA provides a registration system, professional support and guidance to those who are teaching and assessing sign language in a variety of settings throughout New Zealand.
‘Being able to ensure our professional development programme and teaching resources are relevant and accessible to NZSL tutors and teachers will benefit those who learn NZSL’, says Karla Smith as President of NZSLTA. We are grateful to the NZSL Board for their generosity in recognising the value of NZSLTA and to allow us to be responsive to the increasing demand for quality NZSL teachers.
Later this year there will be a national Hui for teachers and tutors to ensure they have an active role in the design and development of the different functions of the association. We are pleased to have Rachel Noble from ENNOBLE working with us to guide us through process of strengthening NZSLTA.
