Eat My Lunch Partners with Sir Ray Avery to Feed More Kiwi Kids
Eat My Lunch, who turns 3 today, has Given over 810,000 healthy lunches to kids in 78 low decile schools in Auckland, Hamilton and Wellington. They currently feed 2,600 kids every school day and will deliver their 1 million lunch in September.
While Eat My Lunch has grown from a home business to feeding thousands of kids every day, they are on a bigger mission to feed the estimated 25,000 kids that are going to school every day in NZ without lunch.
To help them, Eat My Lunch has partnered with Amigo Bars to ensure kiwi kids receive essential nutrition required for healthy growth and mental development.
Amigo Bars is the brainchild of Sir Ray Avery who is also on a mission to ensure no kiwi kid goes to school hungry.
One in four Kiwi Kids go to school hungry without breakfast or lunch. Many more have poor diets which don’t provide all the nutrition required for healthy growth and brain development. Amigo Bars contain all the proteins, amino acids, vitamins and micronutrients for a growing child in a delicious healthy ready to eat bar formulation.
“This partnership gives us the ability to scale up the number of children we can reach and ensure they receive essential nutrition that is contained in an Amigo Bar.
“It gives us potential to reach more children with food choices, however it doesn’t replace the Give lunches we will continue to make every day,” says Eat My Lunch Founder and CEO Lisa King.
“Teaming up with Eat my Lunch means we can distribute free Amigo Bars into schools. Our mission is to ensure that no children in New Zealand go to school hungry and receive essential nutrition required for healthy growth and mental development. When children are hungry they have trouble concentrating and get “hangry.” We want to change “hangry” faces into “happy” faces,” says Amigo Bar inventor, Sir Ray Avery.
Eat My Lunch will begin to distribute Amigo Bars to children in schools in August this year.
