Treasury University Challenge renamed

Published: Fri 1 Jun 2018 02:44 PM
The Treasury University Challenge is now the Treasury Tertiary Challenge.
The Treasury University Challenge has been relaunched as the Treasury Tertiary Challenge, providing the opportunity to enter to a wider range of New Zealand students. New name, same great experience.
Open to any student enrolled in a New Zealand tertiary institution, the challenge provides entrants an insight into the range of work performed at the Treasury while allowing them to test their analytical skills on a real-life policy issue.
Students may submit their entry as a 2000 word essay, an A3 document, or a 5 minute video. This year’s topic focuses on the Government’s Tax Working Group and entrants are tasked with presenting on one of three pre-set questions found on the Treasury’s website.
Finalists to the challenge will be invited to present their analysis to staff at the Treasury offices while being given an inside look at how the organisation runs on a day-to-day basis. The winner of the University Challenge will be awarded $2,000 towards their study fees. 2nd and 3rd places will receive $1000 and $500 grants respectively, with $100 going to each of the two remaining finalists. Submissions to the challenge close on 15 July 2018.
