Duke of Edinburgh and SCOUTS New Zealand sign MOU

Published: Wed 2 May 2018 11:31 AM
SCOUTS New Zealand is thrilled to announce they have signed an updated Memorandum of Understanding with the Duke of Edinburgh (DOE) Award Scheme which allows for cross-crediting between the SCOUT's award scheme and the DOE award scheme.
The two organisations will work together in a spirit of partnership, while maintaining the integrity of their respective visions and awards. They will jointly promote each other’s programmes, working to the mutual benefit of each other.
Cross-crediting will be available for some of the highest awards in Scouting (Chief Scout Award, Queen's Scouts Award and St. George Award) and the Gold Qualifying Adventurous Journey DOE awards.
By working together, both SCOUTS New Zealand and Duke of Edinburgh International Award will benefit from the added reach of their respective Award Schemes. This partnership will be a seamless collaboration, and enable more young New Zealanders to reach their full potential.
‘We are thrilled to be working more closely with Duke of Edinburgh. Our Award Schemes are well aligned, and our organisations have very similar aims and values so it makes sense to work together on this. Together we are giving more young New Zealanders the opportunity to succeed while gaining credits for both Scouting and DOE awards” said Joshua Tabor, Chief Executive at SCOUTS New Zealand.
The MOU comes into effect on 1 May 2018.
