Members of the media are invited to Southern Institute of Technology (SIT)’s Award Ceremony to be held on Tuesday, November 28 at 7.30pm at the Civic Theatre, Invercargill.
Awards will be given to students across the various faculty departments at SIT, displaying the achievements of students who have excelled in their area of study.

SIT is proud to acknowledge and thank our community sponsors for their continued support. These sponsors make such an Award Ceremony possible through their monetary contributions, trophies and prizes and contribute to the close relationship SIT holds with local organisations. Over 100 awards are provided by the local community, celebrating the significant achievements of SIT’s top students.
SIT Chief Executive Penny Simmonds encapsulates this sentiment, “our Award Ceremony is one of the highlights of our academic year when we celebrate our students’ many successes. We are grateful to our sponsors from business and industry who support us throughout the year in many ways and who provide monetary awards, trophies and prizes for the successful students at the award ceremony”.
Guest speakers at the event include eight Bachelor of Information Technology students who won the Prime Minister’s Scholarship for Asia, which took them to Japan’s Nara Institute of Science and Technology in Kansai City, south of Tokyo. The students will speak about their six-week experience in Japan studying cybersecurity and internet knowledge transfer as well as Japanese culture and language.
