Update to NCEA aid in time for exams

A popular platform helping New Zealand students study for their NCEA exams has re-launched to offer even more free
resources in time for the start of exams.
With NCEA exams kicking off today, free online support platform StudyTimehas been updated and re-skinned to provide Kiwi high schoolers more support than ever before.
The website is packed with articles containing study-related ideas and advice, videos explaining the hardest concepts,
free comprehensive study guides which summarise entire course curricula, and past exams with Excellence, Merit,
Achieved, and Not Achieved example answers.
It accompanies the Facebook page, which has more than 20,000 followers who actively use it to share ideas and support around NCEA exams.
StudyTime founder William Guzzo, 26, says the aim of the platform remains the same: to empower students’ learning by
providing equal access to education, for free.
“We want all students to have a healthy and holistic view of education; not just as a box ticking exercise but as a
valuable life tool which can be used to change the world. We also want to close the gap between privileged students and
those deprived of the extra support, opportunities, or encouragement to excel academically.
“Basically, StudyTime is everything I wish I had when I was going through exams at school.”
The new site aims to achieve these goals in easier and more engaging ways, says Guzzo.
The guides are one of the key features of the new website, giving students a comprehensive resource to use when
preparing for exams.
"We felt that there was a lack of study guides that were made with students in mind. There wasn't anything that was like
a 'tutor in a book' – guides that explained things in a way students could easily understand, and were accessible to all
students. That's why we launched our own."
StudyTime has also created a Facebook group which students can join to discuss exams and seek advice.
“The free Facebook help group is for NCEA students, monitored by students. At StudyTime we really believe in young
people helping each other - and by connecting them via our online community, it is easier than ever to share their
skills, knowledge, tips, and advice.”
It’s also hosting a more lighthearted Facebook event, where students can help ease their exam stress and anxiety with what Guzzo calls, “stress relief banter and many
memes.”
StudyTime is the NCEA branch of tutoring service Inspiration Educationwhich has more than 100 tutors who’ve helped hundreds of high school students throughout New Zealand understand course
content and prepare for exams.
In the past year, the website has had 37,000 users and more than 200,000 page views.
Guzzo founded the organisation after his own experiences in the New Zealand education system inspired him to help other students achieve academically.
