Vote for your local school in the Build-Ability Challenge!
Online voting for the annual secondary school Build-Ability Challenge opens today, Monday 11 September. The public will
have until 22 September to cast their vote.
Teams from 14 secondary schools across the country have spent the past three months competing in the annual
Build-Ability Challenge which sees them plan, design and build a project of their choice while sticking to a strict
budget.
The Build-Ability Challenge is a key part of the Building and Construction Industry Training Organisation’s strategy to
attract new apprentices and demonstrate the opportunities of a career in the trades.
The Challenge provides the students with hands-on experience of an apprenticeship and a head-start on their training
with the ability to earn unit and achievement standards towards a BCATS National Certificate.
At the end of the Challenge, students will donate their projects to their school or a community organisation of their
choice.
Towards the end of September, expert judges will decide the overall winners and the People’s Choice category winner will
be selected by online public voting at www.buildability.co.nz.
Winners will be announced on Tuesday 26 September.
