The Mind Lab by Unitec Launches Campaign to Showcase NZ Educators Embracing Digital Future
The country’s leading provider of digital education, The Mind Lab by Unitec, has launched a new platform to showcase New Zealand educators embracing the digital future, and encourage others to join the movement.
With just four months until digital technology is fully integrated into the New Zealand Curriculum and Te Marautanga o Aotearoa, many educators are considering how to bring 21st century skills and tools into the classroom. They are being called to disrupt outmoded teaching methods, shift thinking, and create innovative and future-focused systems.
The Faces of Change video campaign enables educators to share how they are already driving change in New Zealand to help others find their way into the new pedagogical future.
Founder of The Mind Lab by Unitec and education futurist, Frances Valintine, says, "Education in New Zealand is currently seeing a seismic shift based upon the changing needs of the workforce, new industries, and the need for students to have high levels of digital capability. We must prepare our students for this new world. Teachers hold the key.”
Already educators across the nation have submitted their videos describing how they are changing education. This includes helping students to collaborate, making education more relevant to the real world, teaching young people about digital technologies and code, and giving students flexibility around when and how they learn. See all of the Faces of Change on the website.
The Mind Lab by Unitec is dedicated to enhancing digital literacy capability and the implementation of contemporary practice in the teaching profession. Designed for educators at all levels, from early childhood through to tertiary, The Mind Lab by Unitec’s Postgraduate Certificate in Applied Practice (Digital & Collaborative Learning) builds teachers’ capabilities as 21st-century educators, regardless of their school or subject. Delivered by The Mind Lab by Unitec, the programme offers informed, practical and hands-on training that is relevant and essential to what teachers are doing right now.
