Rediscover your passion for early childhood teaching
Early Childhood Teachers can care for children in their own home while maintaining their teacher’s registration, with support by PORSE In-Home Childcare.
Fully registered ECE teachers who hold a current practising certificate, can join PORSE and keep their practising certificate, with a subject to confirmation status. PORSE will support the teacher with ongoing professional development, an interactive programme, advice and guidance - along with paying the cost of teachers’ practicing certificate and help them set up their business with an additional resource payment.
General Manager Kerry Henderson said PORSE respect the ever-changing needs of families and the Teachers in Homes Programme offers teachers the flexibility of working from home, setting their own hours and rates – all with the backing of New Zealand’s largest home-based early childhood education provider.
Educators with PORSE get to experience the joy of working with children in small numbers, Mrs Henderson says.
“You’ll have the time to enjoy the wonder of a child learning something new that you have taught, because you’ve provided them with the environment and relationship that allows them to feel safe and secure.”
Children who have solid, loving relationships with consistent caregivers do best, Mrs Henderson says. Research into infant brain development repeatedly says, that it is the quality of the relationship children have with their caregivers that is the most important thing.
“In-home education is the next best alternative to parents and caregivers staying at home with their children.”
Most importantly, this programme allows teachers to get back to why they became a teacher in the first place – to make a difference.
