Helping Kiwis in Lower North Island Achieve Their Dreams

Helping Kiwis in Lower North Island Achieve Their Dreams – Applications for Amp Scholarships Open for 2017

Farmers, athletes, artists, scientists, or entrepreneurs... whoever you are and whatever you want to do, AMP can help you reach your dreams. Kiwis from all walks of life have achieved great things and they all started with a dream and a can-do attitude.

This year, AMP is giving away up to $200,000 to help talented New Zealanders of all ages and from all walks of life who have the courage to pursue their dreams with the help of AMP Scholarships.

Whether the dream is a new business, launching a community-focused project, providing educational opportunities, representing New Zealand at the Olympics – the search has begun around the country for talented and determined Kiwis.

Last year, Wellington local Jayden Ford was awarded a $5,000 scholarship from AMP Scholarships in association with AMP City Financial Services to help him achieve his dream of becoming the world’s youngest number one male golfter.

13-year-old Jayden says since winning the Scholarship, he’s been able to further his golfing dreams.

“I have competed in my first New Zealand men’s amateurs and finished third in the stokeplay.

I was selected into the Mens Wellington Golf team last year and again this year. I also won my first Wellington Mens Order of Merit and the 2017 Wellington Under 19 stokeplay.

“Without a doubt the scholarship has helped enable these successes. Prior to winning I was using dated equipment, and needed golf gear that would ensure I was able to perform to the peak of my ability.

“I'm excited for what the future holds and very thankful to AMP for providing these scholarships. It has allowed for coaching, equipment and attending events, that I otherwise may not have and going through these processes has helped with results. I also really enjoyed the AMP award nights, they were a great experience themselves and I met a lot of inspirational people.”

This year, 8 Adviser Businesses in the AMP Financial Adviser Network will each offer a $5,000 scholarship to help someone in their region pursue their dream.
AMP Regional Adviser William Marshall, a Director of AMP City says his region’s talent pool will put the rest of New Zealand to test.

"AMP City Financial Services have been looking into ways we can become more involved with the wider community and the scholarship programme was a great way for us to give something back.

“We recognise that it’s a world of opportunity, and we hope that in some way our support may help one talented New Zealander on their way to achieving their dreams."

Applications are open until 13 August 2017. For more information, and to apply online, visit amp.co.nz
