Learn how to give your child, or the children in your care, the best start in life by enrolling in the PORSE Level 3 Certificate.
The National Certificate in Early Childhood Education & Care (Level 3) is delivered nationwide to encourage people from all walks of life with a passion for parenting and childcare to complete study that will enable them to grow as a parent, carer or educator.
PORSE General Manager of Education and Training, Erin Maloney says: “We recognise the many different challenges that come with caring for a child – from understanding developmental milestones to being able to positively guide behaviour and lay foundations for future success.
“The Level 3 certificate helps you to understand in more detail the basic needs of an infant and child by using your own experiences and observations of your child or the children in your care,” she says.
This course is accredited by the New Zealand Qualifications Authority (NZQA), with 18 Unit Standards (or modules of work) that contribute to a nationally recognised qualification.
PORSE Education and Training has been recognised as one of the top tertiary providers in New Zealand.
As both a leading in-home childcare provider and private training establishment, PORSE was awarded a ‘highly confident’ rating by the NZQA as a result of a recent external evaluation and review process.
This four-yearly assessment is mandatory for tertiary training providers to assure a high standard of compliance and quality in areas of educational performance and capability in self-assessment.
The result places PORSE in the top 22 per cent of tertiary providers in the country, with a Category One status.
Ms Maloney, was heavily involved with the External Evaluative Review process and says a Category One status is the highest accolade that PORSE has achieved.
“Similar to Education Review Office (ERO) for schools, this process is compulsory for tertiary training providers. We put a lot of time into developing quality courses and ensuring a high standard of delivery, so for PORSE to achieve the top rating of Highly Confident is something we are very proud of. It’s a stamp of quality and ensures our learners can be certain they are getting quality education through PORSE,” she says.
PORSE offer this as a 21 week distance learning course that can be delivered online or using paper-based learning guides. You can choose to study independently or attend Programme Study Options that are provided by your local PORSE Community Team.
The certificate introduces relevant learning in various areas of early childhood education and care, including: Te Whāriki, the early childhood curriculum, providing resources for play, developing observation skills, effective communication and much more.
Graduates of the PORSE National Certificate in Early Childhood Care & Education often move into careers in early childhood education, or continue to grow their skills as parents and carers. Most importantly, they understand more about the influence that they have on the growth and development of the children in their care, giving them the best start in life.
