After more than 6 years with the Malcam Charitable Trust, Chief Executive Andy Kilsby, is leaving, not so much for greener pastures, but for green and blue ones! Mr Kilby is the new Manager of the Otago Secondary Tertiary College at Otago Polytechnic.

“It’s been my absolute privilege to work at the Malcam Charitable Trust alongside talented and motivated staff and with young people who constantly challenge and always reward” he says.

“The Dunedin community is pretty special, and I have really enjoyed collaborating with a wide range of organisations interested in creating opportunities for young people. I'm looking forward to continuing that work in my new role managing the secondary tertiary transition space at Otago Polytechnic.”

Mr Kilsby has been Chief Executive of the Malcam Charitable Trust since 2012, prior to that he worked as a consultant to the Trust, and has also served as a Trustee on the Board.

The Malcam Charitable Trust is delighted to announce Desiree Williams as its new Chief Executive. With a career in education and 10 years’ experience at Ngai Tahu Maori Law Centre, Mrs Williams brings a wealth of knowledge and skills. She’s well versed in the community sector, holding a number of governance and volunteer roles in a range of organisations, including Te Hou Ora, Dunedin City Council and Dunedin Mediation Services.

“In my time with Community Law, I’ve worked with the hardest-to-reach communities. I relish the opportunity to work with the incredible and dedicated trustees and staff of the Malcam Trust, and I’m excited to witness the success of youth that results.

“As a former difficult youth, I truly believe that we should provide every opportunity for youth to find their way in adult life. Whilst I am privileged to be taking up the challenge as CEO, Andy leaves big shoes to fill - I will work hard to further the opportunities and support offered by the Malcam Trust throughout Otago. Youth are our future!” she says.

Malcam Charitable Trust Chair Jan Hudson is excited at the appointment of Desiree to the Chief Executive role, and the opportunity that change will bring. “The Trust has always been a flexible and innovative provider to the needs of young people in Dunedin. Desiree will help us to build on our suite of experiences for young people, and will further evolve our organisation, so that we continue to provide this support” Ms Hudson says.

Andy Kilsby will be taking up the Otago Polytechnic position of Manager Secondary Tertiary in early 2017 and will finish at the Malcam Charitable Trust on 23 December.
