For the first time in its 27 years the NZSTA Board has announced the appointment of a new CEO. Nick Inskip has considerable experience in governance and working with boards on developing and executing strategy, and implementing change. He also has strong financial literacy skills.
Originally from Australia and with a background in mechanical engineering and quality assurance, Nick comes to us from 5 years as CEO with Icon Edge, 3 years as CEO for AJ Parkes & Co and 7 years as General Manager, Industry Development with the Heavy Engineering Research Association where he has had particular responsibilities for maintaining and promoting capabilities of the membership, providing advice on international, tariff and marketing issues of significance to the industry, performing targeted business development initiatives, and developing and maintaining industry development training / seminar programmes.
Nick takes up his new role on 31 January.
NZSTA’s outgoing General Manager Ray Newport retires this week after 27 years with the organisation.
Ray started with NZSTA on its first day, 1 April 1989. Ray has been a steady hand on the tiller, and has navigated the organisation through difficult times to its current strong position. Ray is acknowledged as the architect and driving force behind the strategy of providing a comprehensive range of employment and governance advice free of charge to boards of trustees through NZSTA’s contract with the Ministry of Education.
Ray is looking forward to an active retirement on the lifestyle block he and his wife Alison have bought on the Kapiti coast. Ray’s departure truly marks the end of an era for NZSTA.
