Graduate Diploma of Teaching (ECE) gets green light for PTE

15 December 2016

For immediate release.

Te Rito Maioha Early Childhood New Zealand (ECNZ) is pleased to announce that it has been granted approval by NZQA to deliver the Graduate Diploma of Teaching (ECE).

‘We’re really pleased to gain NZQA’s approval to deliver this high quality programme,’ said Kathy Wolfe, Chief Executive of ECNZ. ‘This new qualification opens up the door for graduates from a variety of backgrounds, to study towards a rewarding career in early childhood education.’

The 1-year full-time programme has been specifically developed for degree graduates wishing to make a career in ECE. The qualification will also appeal to primary school teachers wishing to pursue a career in early childhood education.

The programme is taught via blended delivery which allows students to be based anywhere, coming together for block courses.

The Graduate Diploma of Teaching (ECE) is one of a growing suite of qualifications delivered by ECNZ.

• Bachelor of Teaching (ECE)

• ECE Diploma to Degree Upgrade Programme

• Postgraduate Diploma in Leadership (including Trans-Tasman Initiative)

• Graduate Diploma of Teaching (ECE)

• Graduate Certificate Infant and Toddler Wellbeing and Learning

Ms Wolfe said that ECNZ was responding to changing needs in the ECE sector and the workforce.

‘We’ve found that there are primary teachers and graduates of other disciplines who want to apply their skills and knowledge to teaching our youngest children. They have a huge amount to offer, and with this new qualification will be able gain the skills to do so in the most effective way.’
