Are you a teacher looking for a way to excite and engage your students as the year comes to a close?
The DECA Ideas Challenge is a fast-paced experiential learning exercise that dares primary, secondary and university students to find a new, innovative and sustainable use for a common, everyday item in just eight days!
Here’s how it works. On 10 November 2016 at 6pm NZ Time, the mystery object will be revealed on the DECA Challenge website at: http://bit.ly/deca-2016
Students then have eight days to come up with an innovative use for that object, make a three minute YouTube video, and post the video to YouTube. Kiwi entries will then be evaluated in New Zealand, and the best ones will go into the international pool. Winners will be announced in January.
A premier event of Global Entrepreneurship Week (GEW), the competition is a fun and exciting opportunity for students to be imaginative and resourceful while learning about the entrepreneurial process. To participate, students must:
• organize into a team of three to five members
• access the challenge item online once it is revealed
• collaborate as a team to produce an original and sustainable use for the item
• pitch their invention in an engaging YouTube video presentation
• submit entry online by the deadline
