2016 ALUMNI CHAMPS CELEBRATED – 29 October 2016, Untouched World Native Garden Café
Untouched World Charitable Trust holds their 2016 Alumni Dinner on 29th October, celebrating the outstanding, emerging
leadership of four young Alumni Champions from their 2015-16 UWCT programmes.
Over the past 15 years, with the core support of parent UNTOUCHED WORLDTM and key national and local partners, UWCT has
graduated over 1200 student leaders and 400 teachers in training throughout New Zealand. Working in remote sites to
practically improve the country’s biodiversity, well-informed, sustainable leadership development of senior high school
students and emerging rangatira remains their passion and priority.
The 2016 Alumni student champions are;
Javan Rose (Tongariro Kiwi/Wheo Forever Programme)
Kate Stedman (Blumine Island Restoration Programme)
Tom Hanson (Waterwise Canterbury Programme)
Sam Kilsby (Waterwise Otago Programme)
Each of the student champions will present a personal project proposal at the Annual Dinner and at the end of the night,
the Project U Winner will be announced, with a $1500 seed-fund immediately granted by UWCT to assist that champion student make their project
happen.
Says UWCT Chair Peri Drysdale, “We’re always excited by the calibre of young adults who prove themselves on our
programmes – and we hope to spur them to continue to develop their sustainable leadership back in their own communities. Project U is one way we can further invest, encouraging graduates to bring others alongside their own inspirational leadership and
broaden its impact.”
