Waikato-Tainui MBA programme celebrates students’ graduation
The Waikato-Tainui College for Research and Development celebrates its latest cohort to complete its internationally recognised MBA programme.
Sixteen students will receive their Master of Business Administration degree in front of College patron Kiingi Tuheitia, whaanau and invited guests this Friday 30 September 2016 at a special graduation ceremony being held at the College.
“This graduation will mark the end of an academic journey for our graduands and we are exceptionally proud of all of them on reaching this milestone,” says Dr Sarah-Jane Tiakiwai, the College’s Academic Director.
“Our MBA programme fosters Maaori values and promotes indigenous ways of doing business so our graduation is an exciting time for the wider Maaori community as a new generation of innovative thinkers lead the way.”
The MBA programme delivered at the Waikato-Tainui College, combines academic teaching with Maaori ways of learning. This uniqueness saw the programme recognised internationally when it was awarded the inaugural MBA Innovation Award from the London-based Association of MBAs (AMBA).
“From diverse fields and backgrounds, our graduands are the dynamic leaders of the future as they have a distinct perspective of what the Maaori business world has to offer,” says Dr Tiakiwai.
More than 300 guests are expected to attend the graduation ceremony which will feature Minister of Maaori Development Hon. Te Ururoa Flavell as guest speaker.
The Waikato MBA programme is delivered in partnership with the University of Waikato.
Graduation proceedings will begin with a poowhiri at 10am on Friday 30 September at the Waikato-Tainui College for Research and Development, Hopuhopu, 451 Old Taupiri Road, Ngaruawa
