Company directors must be held to account for exam failures – migrant workers’ network
The directors of the International Academy of New Zealand (IANZ), an Auckland-based education provider accused of falsifying English language test results, should be held responsible for poor exam results, a migrant workers’ advocate said.
“After sitting an official re-exam up to 70 IANZ students have fallen well short of passing,” said Union Network of Migrants (UNEMIG) co-ordinator Dennis Maga.
“Now the students are at risk of being deported.”
“This never should have happened. The Government needs to step in and regulate the education market,” said Maga.
“Under the Government’s soft system overseas education agents can get away with selling false promises to international students. Education institutes like IANZ are complicit as well, many of them putting student fees ahead of a quality education.”
“The directors of IANZ must be held responsible for providing such a poor education. It’s not the students’ fault that they were sold false promises,” said Maga.
