New scholarship fund aims to develop emerging Pacific leaders in tertiary education
Ako Aotearoa – National Centre for Tertiary Teaching Excellence - is launching a new initiative this week, the Pacific Professional Development Fund, to support emerging Pacific leaders in tertiary education.
Announced at the Pacific Tertiary Education Forum in Auckland, this new fund has been established in conjunction with Ako Aotearoa’s Pacific Peoples’ Caucus.
The call for nominations of this new fund will open soon.
The fund offers professional development scholarships to Pacific tertiary staff with two key objectives:
• supporting Pacific staff working in tertiary organisations to move into leadership positions through career development
• building Pacific leadership capacity to provide a platform of support for Pacific learners’ success.
The scholarships are open to all Pacific staff working in tertiary education in New Zealand (academic and general staff). They are worth between $2,000 and $5,000 on the basis that the sum awarded will be matched by an equal amount of funding from the recipient’s organisation.
